Plainridge postpones Thursday card

from Plainridge Park

Plainville, MA — Plainridge Park Casino has postponed the card scheduled for Thursday (Aug. 2) until Friday (Aug. 3). Post time will remain at 4 p.m.

Massachusetts’ racing legislation expired on Tuesday, and the legislature adjourned its 2018 session without extending the laws. As a result no simulcasting or live racing can take place in the Commonwealth. The legislature holds an informal session on Thursday and it is hoped that sometime during the day the matter can be resolved and scheduled live racing can take place at both Plainridge Park and Suffolk Downs as planned.

Given the circumstances, postponing Thursday’s live card until Friday seemed to be the most realistic chance to race a program that has already been drawn. However, should the legislature fail to act on the matter by the end of business Thursday there will be no choice but to cancel the card.

Thursday’s double draw for Monday and Tuesday will take place as scheduled.

Plainridge Park management appreciates everyone’s understanding and will provide further updates as circumstances warrant.
