Plainridge to close for legislative hearings

by Jack Ginnetti

Marlborough, MA — Live racing at Plainridge Racecourse October 29 will not be held so staff and supporters can attend a hearing on the expanded gaming measure in Boston’s Gardner Auditorium. The track will be open with a full simulcast schedule.

The Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies will conduct the legislative hearings. The panel will take testimony on gambling bills, including closely watched casino legislation beginning at 10 a.m.

Plainridge President Gary Piontkowski stated when the date for the hearing was announced, “I’m thrilled that gaming and expanded gaming is being considered for the harness track. We look forward to working for our horsemen, employees and the community of Plainville.”

Plainridge will stage a special Saturday racing card on October 31 with a 1 p.m. post.

Bus transportation to the gaming hearing will leave at 7 a.m. from the track’s parking lot.
