Platoon Seelster equaled the fastest trotting mile in track history on Wednesday night.

The 4-year-old gelded son of Federal Flex took full advantage of post one in the $8,360 Preferred 2 Trot and jetted straight to command through a snappy :27.2 opening quarter. Driver Ryan Holliday was able to rate his speed to the tune of :30.3 in the second quarter and they hit the half in :58.

Platoon Seelster faced first-over pressure in the third quarter but easily rebuffed the challenge through three-quarters in 1:26.4. He then kicked home in :29.1 to stop the clock in 1:56, equaling the previous best clocking of 1:56 which was established by Brawn Seelster back in 2008.

It was the sixth lifetime win for the former star of the Ontario Sires Stakes program who increased his career bankroll to $232,393 for owners Caroline Holliday and Dennis Hannah.
