Pocono to host HHYF Summer Camp

Wilkes-Barre, PA — The Harness Horse Youth Foundation is sponsoring a five-day overnight harness horse camp at the Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono from July 7-11.

The camp is seeking applicants between 12 and 14 years old, as of Jan. 1, 2015. The event wraps up Saturday (July 11) with the campers participating in exciting races accompanied by Pocono drivers. Applicants from across the country will be considered, but campers are responsible for their own transportation to the Wilkes Barre area.

Applicants will work hands-on with the HHYF’s stable of Trottingbred horses. Among the topics covered are care and grooming, equipment, conformation, lameness, history, stable management, and equine careers. During the week, the campers enjoy several other events, including dinner at Pacers Clubhouse and a night watching the live Pocono races; as well as a fun night bowling.

The camp is one of several across the country being conducted by HHYF this summer. For complete details and a camp application, log on to www.hhyf.org/uploads/12Poconoapplication.pdf.
