Post time change at Monticello Raceway

by John Manzi, publicity director, Monticello Raceway

Monticello, NY — Beginning March 2 and continuing until further notice Monticello Raceway will change daily post times to 1:10 p.m., one-half hour later than the current post times.

The post time changes have the approval of the New York State Racing & Wagering Board and will largely remain in effect during Daylight Savings Time.

“During the winter season, with shorter daylight hours, we always move post times back one-half hour in an effort to complete our race cards during the daylight hours,” explained Shawn Wiles the raceway’s Assistant General Manager. “But now that the days are longer we’ll revert back to our usual 1:10 p.m. post times.”

Live racing will continue four-times weekly on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. Simulcast wagering on thoroughbreds — as well as some other harness tracks — continues to be available during the afternoons while the evenings are devoted to harness simulcasts.
