Post time change for Scarborough baby races

by Michael M. Sweeney, for Scarborough Downs

Scarborough, Maine — The first slate of baby races will be contested on Monday, June 11, at Scarborough Downs with post time rescheduled for 2:00 p.m. (EDT).

Due to the unexpected volume of entries, the 2-year-old preps have been split into six divisions to be contested before the Monday afternoon pari-mutuel card.

“We are extremely pleased with the response to this year’s Learn and Earn races,” said Downs’ Marketing Director Susan Higgins. “The number of 2-year-olds who are ready to race is encouraging. We’re looking forward to a great stakes season here in Maine.”

Many of the participants in Monday’s baby races are prepping for the upcoming Maine Standardbred Breeders Stake season which debuts at Scarborough Downs on June 30.

Scarborough Downs proudly features live harness action every Monday, Tuesday and Saturday afternoon with first post scheduled for 3:45 p.m. The popular Sunday matinees get underway at 12:05 p.m.
