Powerful Mist fillies sweep DSBF splits Tuesday

Harrington, DE — A pair of fillies by Powerful Mist won their respective $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders’ Fund (DSBF) divisions for 2-year-old pacers Tuesday (Oct. 4) at Harrington Raceway.

Legacy Racing of Delaware’s Direct Mist ($2.20, Trae Porter) and Stephen Messick’s Misty Coast ($2.10, Art Stafford Jr.) each won their divisions. Direct Mist was a front-end winner for trainer Wayne Givens in 2:00.2 over Ren Marvalous and Hold My Wine, and Misty Coast also prevailed in wire-to-wire fashion in 1:59.4 for trainer Les Givens over Ezycure and Del Lyon.

The two fillies are set to clash in the $100,000 final next Tuesday (Oct. 11). In the overnight feature, a $15,000 conditioned pace, Jeff Clark’s Cruzinforavictory ($18.40, Ross Wolfenden) won in 1:54.3 over Feeling Sweet and Anneke. It was the eighth win of the year for the 7-year-old daughter of Hypnotic Blue Chip.

Montrell Teague had four wins on the card, Stafford registered a hat trick, and Mike Cole had a double.
