Pride Of Windswept wire-to-wire in Maryland Sire Stakes

Berlin, MD — Racing fun continued on Wednesday (July 7) at Ocean Downs with Maryland Sire Stakes prelims for 3-year-olds and the ever famous camel and ostrich races with an overflow crowd in attendance.

Once again ‘Captain’ Corey Callahan guided Pride Of Windswept (Charlie De Vie) to victory in the second round preliminary for Maryland sired trotting fillies. Pride Of Windswept remains undefeated in two years of Maryland Sire Stakes and has 13 wins and two seconds in 15 lifetime starts. Shaun Callahan trains the filly for owner-breeders John and Sarah Swart. Call Me Keeper (Lockkeeper) was second in the 2:01.4 mile.

The pacing colts and geldings went to post as race three with the rivalry between Real Made (Rusty’s For Real) and Dream Weaver (Capitol Power) continuing right to the wire. This week it was Real Made that crossed the wire a half-length in front in 1:57 giving them each a win in the same time heading into the final on July 21. Allan Davis was in the bike for trainer Brian Wright and owner/breeder Willard (Dale) Hall Jr.

Stakes action switches to the Maryland Standardbred Fund (foaled) stakes on July 12 and 14.
