Propulsion sets record in prestigious Aby Stora Pris in Sweden

Eight-year old Propulsion, driven by Ôrjan KIhlström, was a very easy winner of the prestigious Aby Stora Pris, raced over close to two miles (3140 metesr) at the Aby track in Gothenburg, Sweden Saturday afternoon (Aug. 10).

It looked liked Propulsion just was jogging, but the teletimer showed that he won the race in a mile rate of 1.56.4f, which lowered his old world record from last year by a full second.

In 2018, Propulsion had to fight for the victory with Readly Express, but he had no such challengers Saturday. He won easily with Makethemark, driven by Ulf Ohlsson, second 2-1/2 lengths behind.

The purse for the winner was $210,000.

On the undercard, Tae Kwon Deo (sired by Trixton) came from behind to win a stake race over 1-5/16 mile for 4-year olds in 1.55.3f  with Adrian Kolgjini in the bike.
