Quadratic Bluechip leads Long grand slam at Saratoga

Saratoga Springs, NY — Driver Chris Long continued his summer-long tear at Saratoga Casino Hotel with a grand slam on the Friday night (Aug. 27) card. Among his quartet of victors was Quadratic Bluechip, who upset at 10-1 in the $16,000 Open Trot.

After finishing third in last week’s Open, the Lisa Zabielski trainee started from post three and landed in the pocket behind millionaire Cash Me Out (driven by Phil Fluet), who cruised unopposed through a :59 first half. Favorite Reign Of Honor (Brett Beckwith) advanced first-over on the leader, and as those two went toe-to-toe in the stretch, Long pointed Quadratic Bluechip to the passing lane. The 6-year-old son of Muscle Hill rallied up the inside to score his first Open win of the season in 1:56.4 over Reign Of Honor and Cash Me Out.

Zabielski completed a training double in the finale when Sevenare, also driven by Long, scored in the nightcap. Long also piloted Katkin Morgan and Mark Of A Beast to victory for trainer Andy Byler, who scored three wins on the card.

Live racing at Saratoga continues on Saturday evening (Aug. 28) with a first post time of 6:45 p.m. The Pick-5, which begins in the opener, boasts a carryover of $11,243.
