Qualifying and live racing Monday at Harrington

Harrington, DE — Harrington Raceway will deviate from the normal qualifying schedule next week and will qualify on Monday (June 15), the same date live racing will commence without spectators.

Qualifiers will start at 9 a.m. and will be drawn Thursday (June 11) with the entry box closing at 10 a.m. Preference will be given to Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund eligible 3-year-olds who are not qualified and horses that need to qualify per the Delaware Harness Racing Commission amendment which considers a horse qualified as long as they have a clean charted line on or after Feb. 1 and are not on the steward’s list. The first live racing program on the 2020 Harrington season will kick off Monday evening with a 4:30 p.m. post time. A nine-race program is carded as Harrington kicks off its 74th anniversary season.

Two-time defending leading trainer Joe Columbo will have a busy night with five trainees entered and leading driver Art Stafford Jr. is expected to be back in action to defend his title.

The featured race is the fifth, a $10,000 Open Pace that features 2019 Horse of the Meet, Slick Tony. Owned by George Leager, the 5-year-old No Spin Zone stallion is on pace for another $100,000 season, after a banner 4-year-old season in which he made $231,449. He drew post six in a contentious field that features Wichita Lineman, JJ Flynn, Glengarry Knight N, Sicily, Rollinlikethunder, Bad Boy Brad A and Proper One. Morning line odds will be calculated Wednesday.

There will be two Pick-4s on the program, beginning in race two and race six with superfecta wagering available in the even numbered races.
