Qualifying races held again at Plainridge

Marlborough, MA — Just four days remain before Plainridge Racecouse opens the New England harness racing season.

The Plainville, Mass. track marks its 10th season in its present surroundings with opening day on March 17. Post time is at 4:00 p.m.

Six qualifying races were again featured on Thursday (March 13) at the ‘Ridge and the fastest time of the afternoon was turned in by Bailey Blazes, who paced the mile in 1:59.2 for driver Shawn Thayer.

Former Plainridge driving champion Brad Irvine drove in a couple of qualifiers and remarked how impressed he was with the track’s condition. Irvine returned to Plainridge after a stint at Cal-Expo.

Track Superintendent Gerald Rocco, Jr. has the racing strip razor sharp for the March 17 and March 19 opening race programs.
