Queen OTRA captured the $52,500 Snow Angel Final for three-year-old pacing fillies on Wednesday night at the Meadowlands.
Owned and bred by White Birch Farm of Allentown, New Jersey, Queen OTRA held on for a neck victory over Theresa Hall [$10.60, $35.60] with Female Champs [$15.60] in third by one-length.
Heavenly Sign faded to fourth.
Queen OTRA, driven by George Brennan and trained by Jeff Stafford, paced the mile in 1:51.2 for her sixth win in 21 starts this year. The winner’s share of $26,250 pushed her career bankroll to $121,910.
“She had a little time off,” Stafford said. “Two starts back was just a tightener. Last week she got roughed up a little more than I would have, liked but she raced great. Tonight I was just hoping for the right trip but things worked out. I knew she had that kind of ability. She’s always been a nice mare. I broke and trained her down myself. The older she gets the better she gets. I always thought she could go with Heavenly Sign. She’s exceptionally talented. She’ll go in the Cape & Cutter Series [in February at the Meadowlands], and we’ll see how she goes against the aged mares.”
