Racer Placers competing for $10,000 ASPCA grant

from Racer Placers

Jefferson, WI — Racer Placers, Inc. will be celebrating The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ national Help A Horse Day on April 25 and will be competing for a chance to win up to $10,000 in grant prizes to assist with their efforts to protect horses.

To celebrate the day, Racer Placers will be joining Brattset Family Farm for a fun filled day on the farm.

This nationwide competition is for equine rescues and sanctuaries to raise awareness about the lifesaving work they do year-round to care for horses in their community who, without such help, face uncertain futures. Horses have been central to the ASPCA’s work since its founding 149 years ago, when Henry Bergh stopped a cart driver from beating his horse, resulting in the first successful arrest for the mistreatment of a horse on April 26, 1866.

“The ASPCA Help A Horse Day contest is a wonderful opportunity for our team to welcome the general public and businesses of our community on to the farm to help spread awareness about horses who are in need of forever homes,” said Nona Brattset, Executive Director of Racer Placers. “Horses are fantastic, intriguing animals, and we hope our supporters will come out on April 25 to help us win a $10,000 grant so we can continue our lifesaving efforts for years to come.”

Join us for natural horsemanship training demonstrations; observe equine veterinarians conducting “spring vet checks” for Racer Placers’ horses; meet and greet adoptable Standardbred horses; say hello to miniature horses, donkeys and baby farm animals; tour a 10 acre agroforestry planting of nut and fruit trees and bushes, cut flowers and seasonal vegetables; learn about 100 percent grass fed beef and dairy cattle; view the Southern Kettle Moraine from atop a drumlin and listen to a geologist explain how the topography was formed. Enjoy live music and take a horse or tractor drawn tour of the farm. Special kids corner and wholesome fun activities for every age.

Admission is free. “Farm to Fork” locally sourced lunch will be available for purchase.
