Racing returns to Yonkers on Saturday

Yonkers, NY — Fear not boys and girls, Yonkers Raceway returns from its not-quite-a-week hiatus Saturday night (June 7), with 11 races at the usual 7:40 p.m. first post.
The card includes $30,000 tri-featured Open Handicaps, for trotters (sixth race), distaffer pacers (ninth race) and pacers (10th race). Armbro Barrister (Ray Schnittker, post six), fresh from a trot track record near-miss (1:55.3) a week ago, tries for a third win in the past four starts. The femme features finds Symphony In Motion (Greg Grismore, post seven) hitting town looking to add to her nearly $180,000 in seasonal stash.
Yonkers’ five-night-per-week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday) schedule resumes next week, with the new Saturday first post (6:50 p.m.) taking effect June 14. Evening simulcasting accompanies all live programs, with afternoon simulcasting available around the NYRA schedule.
“Dark night” evening simulcasting this week is available Thursday/Friday (June 5 and 6), with afternoon simulcasting continuing around the NYRA schedule. Advance wagering of Saturday’s 140th running of the Belmont Stakes begins Friday.
