Atochia scores at The Meadows

Meadow Lands, PA — Atochia waited patiently in the pocket, then blew by Biletnikoff in the lane to capture the $27,500 Preferred Handicap Pace Monday at The Meadows, his third straight victory in the track’s premier pace.

Dave Palone sent Atochia to the front, but the pair settled in second when Biletnikoff moved to the lead at the quarter pole. Exploiting late clearance to the outside, Atochia stepped home in :27.3 to down Biletnikoff by a neck in 1:52, with Mystery Chase a closing third. It was another tough defeat for Biletnikoff, who has finished second in each race of Atochia’s current streak by a combined two necks and a head.

Ron Burke trains Atochia, a 4-year-old gelded son of Dragon Again-Hot Shot Michelle who has won five of his last six starts, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, JJK Stables and M1 Stable.
