Big And Little repeats in Meadows top trot

Washington, PA — Looped from the gate, Big And Little persevered, made the front before the quarter and had little trouble disposing the field from there, capturing his second straight in Monday’s $18,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Big And Little set the track record of 1:52.4 for older geldings last week but was stranded Monday when he tried for the early lead, passed by two horses who left outside him. He found another gear for Brian Zendt and notched an easy score in 1:53.1. The first-over No Doze was second, 3 lengths back, while Run And Tell Pap found late racing room for show.

Bill Zendt trains Big And Little, a 5-year-old son of SJ’s Caviar-Penn Peachi Lane who has won five of nine starts this year, for owner/breeder Gary Saul.

Brett Miller drove five winners on the 15-race card.

Tioga Downs
Double Dribble and Jonathan Drury captured Monday evenings featured $5,200 condition pacing event for trainer Joe Agostino. The duo left the gate from post position three in a field of nine and controlled all of the fractions through 27, 57, and 1:24.3 before drawing off in the stretch to win by four lengths in 1:53.3. It was the fourth win of the year for the 7-year old son of Allamerican Ingot–Lills Dream who is owned by Ferne and Jack Frydman of Canada. Erichs Best (Fern Paquet Jr.) finished second, Jo Willy (Corey Braden) closed late for third, and Trottown King (Mike Simons) rounded out the $42.00 3-4-7-6 ten cent superfecta. Greg Merton posted a driving triple on the evenings eleven race card, while Mike Simons and Mike Merton each recorded doubles.

Northfield Park
Lislea Moran was a repeat winner in the $6,000 Open Pace in Northfield Park’s sixth race on Monday. Thomas O’Donnell owns the 7-year-old pacer. Trainer Andy Rickert called upon Ryan Stahl to drive the gelding. Lislea Moran (Lislea-L’etoile) started from post three and led at nearly every call through fractions of :27.4, :56.2, 1:25 and 1:53. Lislea Moran easily handled his competition and was 2-1/4 lengths in front at the wire. Finishing behind Lislea Moran were Lite Me Up Winbak Dimensions, Bookie Farout, Mybrothergeorge, Sharp Shuttle and Traczar. Monday’s triumph increased Lislea Moran’s lifetime wins tally to 27 and his career earnings to $256,747. He returned $5.60 to win. Victory Is Coming took the $6,000 Open Trot for owners Betty and John Red Shaw. Ammon Hershberger trains and drove the mare. Victory Is Coming (Victory Sam-Norse Comer) started from post seven, was parked the entire mile and still managed to out-trot her competition by a head, stopping the clock at 1:56.3. Completing the race were Rehab Mountain, Norma’s Rose, Lady Rev, Senator Sam, Diamond Hunter, Laser Lucy, Calling A Victory and Chip’s Dreamer. The 6-
year-old Victory Is Coming now has 31 career wins and earnings of $365,283. She was the favorite and paid $4.20 to win.
