Callahan wins six on Monday at Harrington

Harrington, DE — Driver Corey Callahan is starting the Harrington Raceway meet where he left off at Dover Downs. The 32-year-old driver won six races on Monday at Harrington, just days after finishing the Dover Downs meet as the track’s leading driver.

Jeremy’s Successor was a 1:53.4 winner in the Harrington Open.

Callahan has won 10 races in two days at Harrington, including Monday’s subfeature, the $17,200 Delaware Special with Cadence N ($10.60, 1:54.4). The Art Brewer owned and trained 7-year-old surged in the final stages to earn his third win of the season.

Meanwhile, in the $18,600 Open, Andrea Hill’s Jeremy’s Successor ($4.60, Sean Bier) picked up his fourth win of the year with a wire-to-wire performance over Lilsharkshooter and Harlingen Hanover. Trained by Crissy Crissman, Jeremy’s Successor has now banked nearly $620,000 lifetime.

Monticello Raceway
Strongbow and driver Jimmy Taggart, Jr. crossed the finish line in a time of 1:59.1 on Monday in a $3,600 conditioned trot.
Taggart shadowed the speedy leader, Playa Tulum (Zeke Parker), through fractions of :29, :59 and 1:28.2 before moving to the outside halfway down the lane and then charging past the pacesetter to score a two length triumph. Playa Tulum held on for second and Patsy B Happy and Dave Yarock finished third, some eight lengths behind the winner. It was the first victory of the season for the 8-year-old Striking Sahbra gelding who is owned by Mary Fajardo, Helen Licitra and Manuel Fajardo. Trained by Terry Beck, Strongbow paid $18.00 for win.
