Cash On Delivery was a repeat winner in Harrington’s $18,000 Open Trot on Wednesday.

Trained by his driver, Cash On Delivery made his customary charge from off the pace a successful one as he grinded away at pacesetter Wark Woman and edged clear in the stretch for a half-length win over Major Herbie. Wark Woman finished third. It was the fourth win of the year for Cash On Delivery, who surpassed $200,000 in lifetime earnings.

Driver Montrell Teague had three winners on the program. Ross Wolfenden had a driving double.

Pompano Park
Lugar, superbly handled by Kevin Wallis, took top honors for the third straight week in Pompano Park’s featured winners-over trot on Wednesday night. The “famously” bred 5-year-old — yes, he is by Famously — took the lead immediately after the wings folded on the Hummer Starting Gate and, after discouraging any other foes from taking the lead through a sharp opening quarter of :27.2, got mid-mile breathers of :57.1 and 1:27 before romping home in :28.4 to hold off a determined Dutchess Seelster (John Campagnuolo) by one-half length. Tug River Dylan (Dave Ingraham), enjoying a garden journey throughout the mile, finished third, followed by the 4-5 favorite, Celebrity Legacy (Bruce Ranger). My Revenuer (Stephane Lareau) trotted the fastest final panel of the group — :28.1 — but could only earn the last “nickel.” Illusionsndreams completed the rundown. Owned by the Polo Stables and trained by Mark Friedman, Lugar won for the six time in 20 tries this year, sending his season’s bounty to $42,890 — his best season ever.
