Cruzing Angel (1) flies past Pink Magic in deep stretch to post her 1:58.4 maiden victory.

The Yankee Cruiser lass is trained by Ron Steck owned by Rhonda Heady of Arizona and George Green of New Jersey. She was making her fourth lifetime start. Her first trio of starts had come at fairs in Xenia, Mt. Vernon, and Hilliard.

Washed Ashore (Mcardle) and driver Chris Page got the first call out of the gate and led through an opening panel in :29.3. Page then put on the brakes with a 32 second quarter and that’s when Kyle Ater moved with favored Pink Magic to take control.

Pink Magic (The Panderosa) looked like a sure winner when she turned into the homestretch with a 2-1/2 length advantage on her pursuers, but Cruzin Angel made up several lengths in the final eighth to win going away. Racing Form (Allamerican Ingot) finished third for David Myers.

Kyle Ater scored a driving grand slam with four winners on Thursday night.

Trick The Yankee made his local debut a winning one at Saratoga on Thursday night behind a career best effort. The Maine invader was in the $15,000 claiming/conditioned race and would sit back and watch as two longshots battled it out in the first half to the tune of :26.4 and :55.4. Driver Chris Long put the 3-5 favorite in gear and scooted by second choice Classical Art in the lane to register the 1:55.1 lifetime mark in his Saratoga debut. Trick The Yankee has now won seven of his last eight races as he has come into his own in his 4-year-old campaign. It was the third win of the evening for driver Chris Long who was one of two reinsmen to pilot a hat trick on the night as Brian Allen also secured a driving triple on Thursday.
