Daley’s Interest continues to pay dividends at Vernon

Daley’s Interest held off Touch Of The Past in a time of 1:53.1.

Trainer Dan Daley was at the controls in Monday’s sixth race as Daley’s Interest powered three wide around the final turn, and then zipped home (final quarter :27.2) from fourth at the head of the lane to defeat the on-rushing Touch Of The Past by a neck in division two of the weekly Miracle Mile class for top flight representatives of the lateral gait.

While trimming a full second off his previous win mark, the 3-year-old homebred son of Modern Art-Sassy Cessiann earned his second straight score (he won the Miracle Mile-3 contest here on July 5) and his fourth all-time for breeder Ann-Mari Daley and her partners Richard Lombardo and Jared Daley.

The career winner of more than $27,000 paid $44.80 to win, $11.20 to place and $3.80 to show.

Fastest mile-of-the-day honors went to Lewis Rosselli, Jr.’s pacer Miracle Freeluck, who recorded his third win at the meet after a 1:52.2 mile for driver Brian Connor and trainer Brandon Loomis in race 10, the day’s Miracle Mile-3 contest.

Former Vernon provisional driving champ Chris Lems, who ranks third in the track’s current standings with 33 victories, collected his second hat trick at the meet after finishing first with the pacers Quick Step (1:56.3), Dot’s Bigboy (1:54.3) and Onedayatatime (1:54).

The Meadows
Pushed six wide into the final turn, BV’s Sister showed her class and talent Monday at The Meadows as she swooped the field late to capture the $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot.
Assigned post nine because of the two wins in her last three starts, BV’s Sister ducked from the gate, waiting patiently for cover. When Ray Paver moved the 6-year-old daughter of Big Victory-First Breath to the extreme outside for clearance, she responded by brushing past her tiring rivals to score in 1:56.1 at a healthy 9-1. Teagen was second, three-quarters of a length back, with Caviar Forthe Lady a rallying third. Virgil Morgan, Jr. trains BV’s Sister, who surpassed $400,000 in career earnings for Ken Sommer. Dave Palone drove three winners on the 13-race card.

Monticello Raceway
For the second time in less than two weeks Monticello Raceway’s leading driver, Bruce Aldrich, Jr., reined six winners on a single card. It happened on the 13-race card of Monday afternoon. Aldrich began his assault when he won the second race with his wife April’s trotter, Distinct Victory, in a time of 2:02 and he then came right back to win the third race with Sea Horse Farm’s Magic Z Tam in a time of 1:59.1. Aldrich’s next triumph came in race seven when he guided Sarah’s Creek to a 1:58.4 victory for owners April Aldrich, Stan Indig and Nick Logothetis and then he reeled off consecutive wins in races 10 and 11. He guided East Heartland Corporation’s I’m All Sporty home first in 1:59.1 in the 10th and then won the 11th with Robert Lovett’s Pinnacle Portia in a 1:58 clocking. Aldrich capped his afternoon performance with a 1:58.2 triumph with his own I C Linda in the 13th and final race. Now with 220 seasonal triumphs here, Aldrich leads runner-up Zeke Parker by 68 wins, 220-152.
