Eagle See (#7) was a narrow winner in the Fillies and Mares Open.

The Mark Ford trainee was coming off a second-place finish in last week’s Open when dismissed at 16-1 on Thursday. With the favorite Up Front Kellie Jo changing tactics and coming from behind this week, Eagle See beat her major danger to the punch and moved three wide around the final turn.

While followed closely behind by Up Front Kellie Jo (Dan Cappello, Jr.), Eagle See poked her head out in time at the wire to edge front running Slomotion (Chris Long) and Up Front Kellie Jo for the victory. The time of 1:54.1 was one of the fastest on the season for any mare at the track.

Frank Coppola, Jr. was the winning pilot for Eagle See who pulled off the upset win for the Frank Dettore Horse Racing, LLC of North Ridgeville, Ohio.

Live racing continues on Friday night at Saratoga with a first post set for 7:20 p.m.
