Fools Gold was a 1:51.3 winner in the Preferred/Open Pace.

Daryl Bier followed cover with Fools Gold, racing fourth on the backstretch before coming to the outside on the final turn and shooting into the lead in the stretch for a 1:51.3 victory. The win was the 4-year-old son of I Am A Fool-Trinklesntreasures’ third triumph in his last four starts and 11th success of the year for owners Glenn DelRusso, Charley Dombeck and trainer-driver Bier. Jeremy’s Successor (Sean Bier) came on to finish second in front of Wholly Louy (Ross Wolfenden). The victory pushed Fools Gold into three digit earnings, with $108,365 in 2011.

Carter Racing Stable’s Highbeam Rusty N, an Artsplace-Nicky Michele, American sired/New Zealand bred gelding, won the $30,000 Delaware Special with a lifetime fastest clocking of 1:50.4. Defending driver champion Corey Callahan was at the controls for trainer Mike Hall. Nova Artist (Allan Davis) picked up second money with Artists Rally (Jim Morand) third. The win gave Highbeam Rusty N his fifth score of the season and $94,315 in puirses won.

The Meadows
Rebounding from an eighth place finish in the Breeders Crown Mare Trot, Kandor Hanover used a third-over trip and a powerful late kick to capture Monday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap at The Meadows. Away an unhurried sixth for Dave Palone, Kandor Hanover followed live cover before brushing through the lane to down Victory Is Coming by a neck in 1:54.4. Charged Freight was third. Bill Zendt trains Kandor Hanover, a 5-year-old daughter of Tagliabue-Katelyns Glory who now boasts $380,130 in career earnings for Online Stables, John Burns and J. Patrick Huber. Brett Miller drove five winners and Palone three on the 15-race card.

Pompano Park
More than 80 percent of her wins in 2011 have been in South Florida so it was no surprise that I’m Just Special would go off as the 3-5 prevailing public choice in the $12,000 Monday evening feature at The Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park. With Bruce Ranger making a key decision in the opening eighth of the mile to bypass a possible inside racing spot back in the pack, I’m Just Special would stay out on the first turn and clear the lead just past the quarter in :26.4. She’d proceed to widen her advantage the rest of the way in :55 and 1:23.1 and as the wire was arriving in 1:52.3. From 11 wins in 25 trips this year, nine of her first prize tallies have been at Pompano dating to Jan. 4. Princessofdarkness was shuffled to last and closed next best for second in rein to Dan Clements with Keep On Flirtin and Ed Hensley up for third. After a campaign in the Ontario Sire Stakes and the first half of her 5-year-old season, Peter Pellegrino took over training duties from Tom Artandi on I’m Just Special in July 2010. The daughter of Camluck-Ladys Special Girl is now a 6-year-old and she’s banked more than $689,000 for owners Susan and Ted Colby.

Monticello Raceway
Perhaps it was that Blue Creek Angie had to start from post position eight or maybe because she took command before the quarter-mile marker flashed :28, but the mare that had won 15 times previously this year was seriously looking for the finish line en route to her 16th victory of the season at Monticello Raceway on Nov. 7.
With owner Bruce Aldrich, Jr. again at the lines the 8-year-old On The Attack-Hiromi Hanover mare saw her lead dissipate in the final strides but she did hold on for a 1:58.3 victory which matched the amount of wins she recorded last season. With her triumph Blue Creek Angie now has 32 wins over the last two seasons and she raised this year’s bankroll to over $40,000. Sent off as the odds-on favorite she paid $3.80 for win. That victory was one of four on the card for Aldrich who has been locked in a battle for driving supremacy with Zeke Parker who had two winners himself on the Monday card. Last Thursday Parker reined five winners and began this week 10 wins behind Aldrich but after Aldrich’s four-bagger Zeke finds himself 12 back heading into the Tuesday card.
