Monday’s (June 9) edition of Racing Roundup features results stories from The Meadows and Northfield Park.

Foxy Lady equals season’s fastest in 1:50.4 romp at The Meadows

Washington, PA — Undeterred by a demanding opening quarter, Foxy Lady rolled to a front-end victory in 1:50.4 — matching the fastest this year by an older mare on a five-eighths-mile track — in Monday’s $24,800 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Foxy Lady worked hard to wrestle the early lead from All Heart Gal in :28.4 but easily thwarted the first-over bid of the 7-10 favorite, Certified Ideal, and defeated her by 1-1/4 lengths. All Heart Gal was third.

The time knocked a tick from Foxy Lady’s lifetime mark.

Dave Palone drove the 6-year-old daughter of Real Desire-Judy Is A Fox, who now boasts $748,772 in career earnings, for trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, JJK Stables and Phillip Collura.
