G Momma, Mystical Melody win again, will clash in Meadows series final

Washington, PA — G Momma rolled to her third straight victory in Wednesday’s Mary Wohlmuth Memorial Trot at The Meadows while Mystical Melody captured her second consecutive win in the series for 3- and 4-year-old fillies and mares. The pair will square off in the series championship, which, along with the final legs of three other current Meadows series, is set for Friday (March 28). First post that day is 6:55 p.m.

G Momma was sitting third when Mike Wilder moved her uncovered before the half. The 1-2 favorite scored in 1:57.4, a length better than Hierarchy. Boo’s Party Girl closed for third.

Paul Corey trains G Momma, a 4-year-old daughter of SJ’s Caviar-Strike Ten, for Howard Kaufman, Joshua Kaufman and William Eltzroth.

Mystical Melody made a similar first-over move for Dave Palone with similar results, as she drew away to prevail by 5-3/4 lengths in 1:58.2. Mina rallied from last for second while Regal Dynamite completed the ticket.

Clay Faurot, Jr. conditions Mystical Melody, a 4-year-old daughter of Muscle Mass-Winning Tribute who was bothered and broke stride in the opening Wohlmuth leg, for Chelsey Wibert.

It was one of three wins on the 15-race card for Palone.

Dover Downs
Spunky Jack wired the $15,500 Winners Over Trot over an off track on Wednesday at Dover Downs.
Roger Plante took Walt Callam’s Spunky Jack to the front and stayed there in a 1:56 mile to win for the third time in 2014 to go along with four second-place finishes. An altered son of Super Punk-My Embrace, Spunky Jack lifted his seasonal bankroll to $46,825 and $176,371 lifetime. Guiltywithanexcuse, trained and driven by Daryl Bier, in his first local appearance since arriving from Pompano Park, finished second. Enrico AS (Ron Pierce) was locked in before escaping along the passing lane for third.

Buffalo Raceway
Heavenly Place is sure earning her keep in 2014.
In seven starts this season, Heavenly Place has been in the money every time with four victories, including an easy three length win in the $10,500 Fillies and Mares Open Pace at Buffalo Raceway Wednesday night. She left little doubt who was the ‘queen’ on this night. Sitting fourth at the half-mile, driver David McNeight III pulled Heavenly Place first over down the backstretch the final time and cruised past the pacesetting L Diz (Aaron Byron). By the time the field realized the big move Heavenly Place ($7.80) had just thrown at them at the three-quarter marker, it was all over. She notched a 1:58.4 clocking over the ‘good’ track including a :58.3 final half and :28.3 last quarter. Taylor Rei (Ray Fisher, Jr.) managed to rally and take second while L Diz held on for third. With the victory, the 6-year-old Heavenly Place has now earned $18,547 this season. She is owned by CHS Racing and the Limerick Racing Stable with David McNeight, Jr. the trainer.

Miami Valley Raceway
Drivers Dan Noble and Shawn Barker II each scored driving triples Wednesday night at Miami Valley Raceway. Noble’s hot hand catapulted him into third place in the local dash standings with 27 tallies, while Barker doubled his seasonal win total and moved into 15th place among Miami Valley reinsmen. Noble’s victories came behind the trotter Zorgwijk Hollander and pacers Bongo and Mike’s Hope. Barker guided Fear The Major, Mystical Brothers and All Over The World to the winner’s circle.
