Golden Ace wins Sunday feature at Saratoga

Saratoga, NY — Sunday afternoon’s feature went the way of Golden Ace at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.

Golden Ace won Sunday’s feature race at Saratoga Casino and Raceway in 1:55.3.

The defending filly and mare pacer of the year at the Spa had the daunting task of coming first-over on the race’s odds-on favorite. Billy Dobson sat behind the Jackie Rousse trained 8-year-old as she grinded it out on the outside from just before the half-mile pole before emerging with the lead in the stretch.

Golden Ace recorded her third win in three local starts in 2012 earning the winner’s share of the $17,500 purse by stopping the timer in 1:55.3. Longshot Pay Tribute (Stephane Bouchard) came on for second while The Assassinator (Mark Beckwith) held third.

Golden Ace, who went over the $200,000 mark in career earnings with the Sunday score, was dismissed at 8-1 in the feature and returned $19.40 to win, headlining an exacta that returned $296.50.
