Grain Of Truth continues to shine at Pocono

Wilkes-Barre, PAGrain Of Truth continued his run of success with a win in the $24,000 Open Handicap Trot on Tuesday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

With Mike Simons in the bike for trainer Ray Schnittker, Grain Of Truth settled into the pocket behind early leader Autumn Escapade. Those two horses stayed in front until the stretch, when Simons urged the 9-year-old gelding into the passing lane, winning by a half-length in 1:55 on a track listed ‘good’ due to steady rain. Autumn Escapade faded to second while Salutation Hanover finished third.

Grain Of Truth, owned by Charles and Giorgan Iannazzo, now has three wins and two places in five Open Handicap Trots in the 2010 Pocono meet. The winner, who went off at 4-1, owns 51 career victories with more than $823,000 in lifetime earnings.
