House Of Cash scores in Philadelphia feature

Chester, PA —A field of seven upper-conditioned level trotters headlined the Thursday afternoon (July 16) card from Harrah’s Philadelphia, going for a purse of $18,000.

The race time favorite Wisenheimer (George Napolitano Jr.) was looking for his 20th career win. The 6-year-old son of Revenue S was getting major post relief from his most recent outing at Pocono, which resulted in a third place finish against similar competition.

He was forwardly placed right from the get-go, setting fractions of :28.1, :57.2, and 1:26.2. A challenge emerged just beyond the half, as Westside Lindy (Andrew McCarthy) drove up first-over. His bid was short lived, however, as he started to fade midway around the final turn. That’s when Ron Burke trainee House Of Cash (Yannick Gingras) bailed off of cover.

The 7-year-old son of Cash Hall was able to close well enough to overtake the collapsing pace, scoring the victory by a neck in 1:56 at odds of 7-1. Winbak Charles M (Victor Kirby) closed gamely up the inside to finish a heartbreaking second, while pocket sitter Chinese Cuisine (Corey Callahan) finished third.

It was the 17th career win for House Of Cash, who returned $16.60, keying an exacta that paid $100.40. House Of Cash is owned by Weaver Bruscemi and the Burke Racing Stables.

Jolie I Am (Prayer I Am) went back-to-back on Thursday afternoon at Saratoga Casino and Raceway. After breaking his maiden in his third career start last week, the Andrew Byler-trained 3-year-old was the public’s 1-2 betting favorite as he repeated in Thursday’s $7,750 trot for non-winners of one race or $5,000 lifetime. Leading driver Bruce Aldrich Jr. sat patiently in fifth in the early going with Jolie I Am before unleashing him approaching the half-mile pole. The young trotter had no trouble clearing front-running Congo King before drawing off to win in 2:00.2 by more than three lengths. Last week, the Byler trainee raced parked out to the half before imposing his will and prevailing by better than four lengths. Congo King (Austin Siegelman) held second on Thursday while Prince C Hall (Stephane Bouchard) earned the show spot. Jolie I Am returned $3.00 to win and led an exacta and triple that paid $18.20 and $103.00, respectively. Aldrich piloted three winners on the card to pad his already healthy lead in the driver standings. Live racing continues at Saratoga on Friday night with a first post time set for 6:45 p.m.
