I Like My Boss improves to 14-for-14, breaks own track record again

Harrington, DE — Undefeated trotter I Like My Boss ($2.20, Jon Roberts) notched his 14th consecutive win at Harrington Raceway Wednesday with a 1:56.4 score and broke his own track record in the process.

I Like My Boss won his 14th straight race on Wednesday at Harrington.

Owned by trainer Bob Shahan, along with Jimmy Parsons and Ashley Parsons, the Don Boss Vita gelding settled in third early before clearing early leader Dribble Drive shortly after the half-mile in :59.4. He led the field of seven past three-quarters in 1:28.3 before opening up a four length lead at the wire over Sterling Charisma, who rallied for the place spot.

I Like My Boss has never tasted defeat in his 14 lifetime starts and has earned nearly $230,000 along the way. It was one of three driving wins on the night for Roberts.

In the $17,000 Open Trot, Dawn Gannon and Blackhorse Six Stables’ Pittstop Ruthie ($14.80, Tony Morgan) was victorious off a pocket trip in 1:55.4. Spunky Jack cut the mile and finished second, while Classic Filly finished third.

Jim Morand and Allan Davis each had a driving double.

The Meadows
Idling in seventh by six lengths at the half, Classicality brushed wide through the lane and scored a 10-1 upset in Wednesday’s $15,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life Trot at The Meadows. Classicality’s position — third over and chasing Run And Tell Pap, who enjoyed a leisurely :58.1 half on the lead — appeared unenviable. But his cover was live enough to carry him to the stretch and the 4-year-old Classic Photo-Penn Worthy Lane gelding did the rest, roaring home for Brian Zendt in 1:54.3. Major Athens was second, a half-length back, while Run And Tell Pap garnered a third-place check that lifted him over $500,000 in career earnings. Lisa Dunn-Adams trains the homebred Classicality, who boosted his lifetime bankroll to $134,427 for Dunn Stable. Six drivers — Eric Ledford, Jim Pantaleano, Dave Palone, Dick Stillings, Wilbur Yoder and Zendt — each drove a pair of winners on the 15-race card.

Batavia Downs
After three straight starts from post two in the $9,250 Mares Open Pace at Batavia Downs without a win, the fourth time was the charm for She’s A Maniac on Wednesday as the 7-year-old bay went wire-to-wire for driver Jim McNeight. She’s A Maniac circled Real Joy (Drew Monti) out of the gate and took a comfortable 1-1/2 length lead to the quarter in :27.4. With the rest of the field in post position order behind her, the outer flow started towards her at the half in :57.1. McNeight stepped up the pace to escape the pursuers with a :28.1 third panel as closer and Mares Open winner for the last two weeks, Bazooka Terror, was being wound up by Kevin Cummings to take her best shot of the night. But fast and furious came up a bit short this week as the race-long leader completed the circuit in front with a 1:54.4 clocking. Bazooka Terror was second and favored Little Santamonica (Truman Gale) was third. She’s A Maniac returned $15.60 to her supporters. This was the ninth win in 28 starts for She’s A Maniac, bringing her seasonal earnings up to $72,965 for owner North Creek Racing LLC and trainer Jerry Nugent Jr. Leading dash driver Kevin Cummings scored another grand slam on Wednesday night, finishing first with Lucky Style ($5.40), Peaceful Prince ($5.40), Fiftyonefifty ($4.40) and Helena’s Hope ($9.10).
