Itrustyou gets Lightning Lane win in Meadows feature

Washington, PA — Itrustyou found the pocket behind Fred And Ginger, then brushed by his stablemate in the Lightning Lane to capture Monday’s $22,500 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Although Itrustyou left from post nine, he swooped Fred And Ginger from the gate, forcing his rival to endure a tough opening quarter. That may have been the difference late, as the fresher horse had plenty left to score for Dave Palone in a sharp 1:50.4. Fred And Ginger was second by 1-1/2 lengths, while Village Beat earned show.

Ron Burke trains Itrustyou, a 4-year-old Third Straight-Dynamic Lady gelding who now boasts $374,529 in career earnings, for Burke Racing Stable.

Tony Hall drove five winners and Eric Ledford four on the 15-race card while Palone enjoyed a triple.

Dover Downs
Roger Plante waited patiently until the stretch and then rocketed Rock N Load home to post a lifetime best 1:51.2 to win the $16,500 Monday feature at Dover Downs.
Making good use of starting from the rail, Plante followed leader Shine N Shimmer with Matt Kakaley. With the field of nine stacking up on the final turn, Rock N Load closed quickly for her eighth trip to the winner’s circle this year. A 4-year-old daughter of Rocknroll Hanover-Loch Laggan, Rock N Load has now won $90,637 in 2012. Shine N Shimmer held on for second with Alice’s Restaurant coming on for Vic Kirby to finish third.
