Jokes Jet is a winner at Saratoga

Saratoga Springs, NY — The 3-year-old pacer Jokes Jet (Jereme’s Jet) returned to Saratoga Casino and Raceway on Thursday, the spot where she broke her maiden as a freshman in 2013. The Geoff Howles-trained filly returned to town after a long stint racing north of the border.

Jokes Jet won in a career best time of 1:55.3.

Jokes Jet did not get her 2014 campaign off to a good start while racing against strong competition at Mohawk Raceway but the return to the Spa resulted in a return to the winner’s circle for the sophomore pacer.

Jokes Jet and driver Stephane Bouchard set fast fractions on the lead on Thursday night and squared off in what amounted to a match race with rival invader Legal Process (Billy Dobson). Those two fillies battled throughout the entire second lap before Jokes Jet drew clear in the stretch to win in a career best 1:55.3.

Jokes Jet, who earned just shy of $60,000 as a 2-year-old last year, was the 1-5 favorite in the $5,000 race for fillies and mares.
