Legal Litigator wins Open Handicap at Yonkers

Yonkers, NY — Favored Legal Litigator (Cat Manzi) won the early Saturday night scrum for command, and then just rolled away, winning Yonkers Raceway’s $32,000 Open Handicap Pace.

Legal Litigator was clear by three lengths at the wire, which he found in 1:53. Digital Z Tam saved second, with Southwind Tabor (Ryan Anderson) closing from last of the seven to grab third. Runover Feeling (Peter Wrenn) and Next Adventure (Jason Bartlett) completed the cashers.

For Legal Litigator, a 5-year-old Camluck gelding owned by Bob Hamather and trained by Casie Coleman, he returned $6.40 for his first win in a pair of seasonal starts.

Daley doubles on Saturday night at Pompano

Pompano Beach, FL — Though the January 8th program at The Isle Pompano Park began under a temperature of 41 degrees (5C.) and more weather records during the cold spell were set to be broken, veteran horseman Dan Daley seemed oblivious to all of it.

Thanks to sweeping both of his starts on Saturday night, Daley has won 8 of his 15 starts driving and training in South Florida in the current meet.

Daley Deposit Only benefitted from a perfect pocket trip to snare the top prize in the $13,000 Open Handicap Pace. Vapor In The Wind with Ricky Macomber Jr. in tow left from the outside in the field of eight and laid down fractions of 27.3, 56.4 and 1:24.4. Daley Deposit Only was angled out at the head of the stretch and edged by well before the wire to win in 1:53. Vapor In The Wind stoutly held second while I’ve Got The Power in rein to Bruce Ranger closed up for third.

The winner is an Artiscape-Sassy Cessiann homebred gelding owned by his breeder, Ann-Mari Daley of Coral Springs. She shares ownership on the 14-time career winner of over $131,000 with J. Daley, R. Lombardo and Robert Pergament.

SJ Mr. Prince, JK Cameo win Saturday co-features at Dover

Dover, DE — SJ Mr. Prince got up nearing the wire in 1:58.4 to win the $14,000 4&5-Year-Old feature trot at Dover Downs on Saturday, Jan.9. JK Cameo won the feature pace.

Bobby Reeser left quickly with SJ Mr. Prince to get the early lead and then yielded as favorite Over Ruled (Brad Hanners) raced to the front at the clubhouse turn. Over Ruled built up a quick lead on the backstretch but tired badly in deep stretch. SJ Mr. Prince closed on the outside to get up in the final strides. Janco (Kim Vincent) hustled down the passing lane to finish third in the tight photo. SJ Mr. Prince, a Prince Pine-Patty Morr 4-year-old gelding, leased, trained and driven by Reeser, won his second straight and third victory in his last four starts.

JK Cameo had little trouble scoring a 1:57.2 front-end route victory to win the 4&5-Year-Old Mares pace. Vince Copeland drove the Art Major-Angel Be Great 4-year-old to her second win in her last three outings. Infinite Desire (Sean Bier) was runner-up. Chellie’s Dragon (Ross Wolfenden) was the show horse.
