Martz Time won his first start at Dover Downs in 1:54.3 on Wednesday.

With the starting field reduced to five as Cash On Delivery and I’m So Striking were scratched and Andy Miller in the bike for trainer Nick Surick, Martz Time, in his Dover debut, made a hurried move from third on the backstretch to collar front trotting Enrico AS and then sped away to his sixth victory of the season for owners John McGill and Brian Carsey, a 1:54.3 clocking in the week’s feature trot. Baximum (Allan Davis), last week’s winner, closed strongly for second in front of Powerful Charger (Trace Tetrick).

Martz Times victory lifts the Primetime Ranger-Beccas Best 5-year-old gelding’s seasonal earnings to $109,700 and $225,081 lifetime.

Ross Wolfenden, who drove his 6,000th win Tuesday, added three more to his total. Vic Kirby and Jonathan Roberts and trainer Joe Hundertpfund had two wins as did Trish Foulk, with an owner-trainer double.

So Take That, Nova Artist and Just A Jolt lead the $25,000 Delaware Special feature on a big Thursday card.

The Meadows

Count Me In quarter-poled to the lead and held off the late charge of Classicality to capture Wednesday’s (Dec. 3) $15,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life Trot at The Meadows. Count Me In was away second when Wilbur Yoder sent him to the front. The 5-year-old Full Count-Howl gelding withstood the first-over challenge of Classicality and defeated him by 3/4 lengths in 1:55.2 over a sloppy surface. Call To Post found late racing room for third. Lady’s Dude, Ohio’s 2014 champion 3-year-old, saw his six-race winning streak snapped when he grabbed the point early but faded to finish fifth. Marty Wollam trains Count Me In, who now boasts $353,219 in career earnings, and owns with Acadia Farms. Mike Wilder piloted four winners and Dave Palone three on the 15-race card.
