Milby wins five at Rosecroft

Ft. Washington, MD — Leading driver Frank Milby turned in another big night at Rosecroft on Tuesday. Milby had 11 drives on the 13-race card and had five winners, two seconds and a third.

Milby won the second race with Storm Logan, breaking that one’s maiden in 1:57 for owners Norman, Dawn and Storm Short. Melanie Major trains the 5-year-old son of Badlands Hanover who only began racing a month ago with a qualifier at Dover.

Milby next won the fourth race with the 11-year-old SOS Mackenna in a lifetime mark of 1:54. Edward Evans owns and trains the winner who scored win 23 in start number 183. SOS Mackenna edged closer to the $100,000 mark with this win.

Milby made it two in a row, using a two hole trip to score in 1:54.2 with Trophy Hunter for trainer Jason Green. It was the fifth win of the season and 18th of this one’s career. The winner is owned by Gloria Kinnamon.

In the tenth race Milby sat fourth early with trainer Megan Fortna’s Trickledown Theory and was on the move approaching the half-mile. Trickledown Theory roared up uncovered and went by the pack on the backside and was an open lengths winner in a lifetime mark of 1:58.4. Coray Mitchell owns the winner who has scored three times in his last four starts after racing on the Iowa fair scene until recently.

Milby scored his fifth win with owner Thomas Cooke’s Gone Nuclear, trained by Roger Hans. This one made two moves to command and effortlessly cruised to victory in 1:51.3, missing his lifetime mark by one-fifth of a second. Gone Nuclear closed the deal with a :56 back half that opened up on the field. Michael’s Dream gamely held the place late for driver Kim Vincent.
