Monocromatic wins $23,000 distaff feature at Dover

Dover, DE — Meet leading driver Corey Callahan hustled Monocromatic into the lead after the opening quarter and then led the rest of a 1:52.3 mile to win the Sunday feature race at Dover Downs.

Callahan completed the meet’s first 36 days of racing by adding three more wins to his total, now at 95 winners.

After finishing second and third in her previous two outings, a move to an inside post for Monochromatic was a plus as the Dream Away-Miss Ty mare completed her season with win number 11, She now has won $158,285 for owners North State Street Stable.

The Dylan Davis-trainee was engaged by Miss Annie J (Pat Berry) on the way to the far turn but that one could get no farther, finishing a tough second. Freedom Crossing (Ron Pierce) was third most of the way. Alexachase, riding a three-race win streak, was scratched.

Jeremes Sweetheart (Ron Pierce) and No Bad Luck (Montrell Teague) raced 1-2 from the start in a $16,000 Filly and Mare Winners Over Pace. Owned by Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta, Jeremes Sweetheart, a daughter of Jereme’s Jet-Fox Valley Evanna and the only 3-year-old in the field, held off a challenge from Madges Lil Fortune (Jim Morand) on the backstretch before pulling away for a 1:52.4 victory. It was her eighth win in a $123,023 money-winning campaign. Lorrie Please (Eric Carlson) was third.

Ross Wolfenden and Corey Callahan had driving triples; Vic Kirby, Ben Stafford, Jr. and trainers Joe Hundertphund and Ben Stafford had two wins apiece.
