Pembroke Snapshot and Lyons Josephjnr take Monday Opens at Northfield Park

Northfield, OH — Pembroke Snapshot was the winner of the $9,500 Open Trot in Northfield Park’s opening race on Monday (Feb. 17).

Johnny Yoder owns and trains the 9-year-old trotter. Aaron Merriman was aboard for the winning drive.

Pembroke Snapshot (S J’s Photo-Super Earl) started from post four and led at every call through fractions of :28.4, :58.4, 1:27.4 and 1:57.3. Pembroke Snapshot easily handled his competition and was 2-3/4 lengths in front at the wire. Completing the race were Kahoku, Arianna Hall, Hello Carlo, Easy Strength, Saintfrancis and Zorgwijk Heavenly.

Monday’s triumph increased Pembroke Snapshot’s lifetime win tally to 25 and his career earnings to $255,650. He was the race favorite and returned $3.60 to win.

In the evening’s eighth race, Lyons Josephjnr captured the $10,000 Open Pace for owners Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC and trainer Ron Burke. Northfield Park’s leading driver, Josh Sutton, picked up the win aboard the 5-year-old stallion.

Lyons Josephjnr (Million Dollar Cam-Lyons Sure Sign) started from post seven and let his competition carve fractions of :28.1, :57.1 and 1:26.4 while facing strong winds and heavy snow. Lyons Josephjnr bested his competition by a length, stopping the clock at 1:56. Completing the race were Nathan Feelsgood, PL Dragon, Machel Angelo, Malosi N, Bestinthebusiness, Stevie Diamonds and Nabber Again.

Lyons Josephjnr now has 12 career successes. Monday’s victory pushed his bankroll to $187,651. He paid $19.60 to win.
