Phone Terror follows cover to victory in Meadows feature

Washington, PA — Phone Terror followed the first-over cover of Certified Ideal, then brushed by her in the lane to capture Monday’s $20,000 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Certified Ideal worked hard to wrestle the lead from Foxy Lady, setting the stage for Phone Terror’s rally. The 5-year-old daughter of Western Terror-Miss Lex scored in 1:56 on a “slow” track for Peter Wrenn and owner/trainer Robert Barnard. Certified Ideal was 3-3/4 lengths back in second while Ladystar found late racing room for show.

Phone Terror now has banked $237,807 in her career.

Dave Palone drove four winners and Mike Wilder three on the 15-race card while Tyler Stillings was a double threat — three training wins and a driving victory.

The Meadows has canceled Tuesday’s live card due to anticipated frigid weather. Live racing is set to resume Wednesday, with first post at 12:55 p.m.

Dover Downs
After winning last week’s $20,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace by three-quarters of a length, the 9-year-old Monochromatic won this week by a nose to take the female feature race at Dover Downs on Monday. Monochromatic, reined by Corey Callahan, won the top distaff pace for the fourth time this meet, holding off fast finishing Jeremes Sweetheart, teamed with Ron Pierce, who closed along the passing lane in the tight photo. A 17-1 shot, Paradise Lost driven by Ross Wolfenden, was the show horse. North State Street Stable owns the winner, a daughter of Dream Away-Miss Ty, who won for the 48th time in her career while earning $774,155. For the second straight day, Ron Pierce racked up a four bagger.
