Run And Tell Pap repeats in Meadows feature

Washington, PA — Run And Tell Pap notched his second straight win in the slop with a powerful performance in Monday’s $22,500 Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Away third for Dave Palone, Run And Tell Pap made the lead with a quarter-pole move and, just as he did last week in the off going, drew away to score in 1:54.3. The first-over Bettis was second, three lengths back, while Tamarind rallied for show.

Ron Burke trains the 5-year-old High Falls-Adele’s Jade gelding, who now boasts $295,761 in career earnings, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and M1 Stable. It was one of four victories on the 14-race card for Palone.

Dover Downs
Alexachase may have been the smallest starter in the $23,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace, but she showed her big motor by coming from fifth on the final turn to post her third consecutive trip to the winner’s circle in the Monday feature over a sloppy track at Dover Downs.
Not overlooked by the wagering public this week, after winning at 18-1 last Monday, Bret Brittingham waited patiently until reaching the three-quarter pole before putting the Bettor’s Delight-Jett Away 4-year-old into high gear. Alexachase quickly passed the up-front contestants on the far outside in 1:52.4 for her seventh victory of the year. Johnny and Kimberley Waite own the winner of $228,934 lifetime, of which $72,210 has come in 2012. Rock N Load (Roger Plante) finished second with Monochromatic (Corey Callahan) coming on fast to finish third. Callahan drove six winners, while Ron Pierce had a triple.

Pompano Park
Carolines Cullen N captured the $11,000 Open Handicap Pace for fillies and mares on Monday with a stirring late rally.
The 7-year-old daughter of down under stallion Christian Cullen eked out the narrow win over Blissfull Romance with favored Odds On Aventure third in the 1:53 mile. Driven by Bruce Ranger for owner Robert Cooper Stables and trainer Jeff Webster, Carolines Cullen N blasted out of the gate before yielding to Blissfull Romance and driver Wally Hennessey around turn one, as the new leader took the field to the quarter in :27.3. Blissfull Romance’s lead was short lived as Odds On Aventure, with Joe Pavia, Jr. handling her lines, was rolling strongly on the outside and moved into the lead heading into the second turn. Odds On Aventure was the one who took the field through panels of :56.3 and 1:24.3 and had a clear lead turning for home. That’s when Blissfull Romance came out of her pocket, while Carolines Cullen N followed still wider out and these three were across the track a sixteenth out. Carolines Cullen N was just a bit stronger in the late stages and her :27.4 final quarter was just good enough to earn the photo finish win. For Carolines Cullen N, it was her sixth win in 30 starts this year and 25th lifetime victory, sending her career bounty over $290,000 — $77,050 of that in 2012.
