Monticello Raceway
Last season trainer April Aldrich’s pupil Sophisticat won 18 races which equaled the most victories by a trotter in North America during the 2010 campaign.
Again this year the diminutive Monticello Raceway conditioner has another horse currently vying for the top spot for races won. Blue Creek Angie, owned by her husband, Bruce Aldrich, Jr., scored her sixth season’s triumph when the 8-year-old daughter of On The Attack scored a come from behind victory in 2:00 with Bruce Aldrich, Jr. again at the controls on Monday. The victory positions Blue Creek Angie in a tie for second place in North America for races won this year. For Blue Creek Angie it marked her third consecutive victory and she now has seasonal stats of six wins, one second and two thirds in nine starts. Blue Creek Angie rewarded her backers with a $3.90 mutuel payoff. It was one of three victories on the card for the husband and wife team. They also scored with Lady McGee ($3.40) in 2:00.2 and with trotter Our Special Girl ($4.40) in 2:04. With his three winners Aldrich now has 69 at the meet, which leads runner-up Zeke Parker, who also had a hat trick on the card, by 13 victories.
