Southern Allie held off a closing Forensic Z Tam (Pat Lachance) by three-quarters of a length in 1:52.3..

Leaving from post position No. 5, Southern Allie–facing his elders–watched the early floor show. Psilvuheartbreaker (Cat Manzi), the 9-10 favorite, was stung by Southwind Tabor (Stephane Bouchard) past a 27-second opening quarter-mile. In turn, “Heartbreaker” hung Dragon Island (George Brennan) through a :55.4 intermission. Down the backside, Southern Allie moved from sixth, going up and over the battling leaders before the 1:24 three-quarters.

Southern Allie widened to three lengths turning for home, then held off a closing Forensic Z Tam (Pat Lachance) by three-quarters of a length in 1:52.3. Southwid Tabor, Lahaye (Dan Dube) and Psilvuheartbreaker completed the cashers.

For Southern Allie, a 3-year-old Allie’s Western gelding trained by Ron Burke for co-owners Burke Racing and Weaver Bruscemi, he returned $15.60 (fourth choice) for his 11th win in 30 seasonal starts.

Manzi, who began the evening two wins shy of 14,000 for his stellar career, ended it the same way after going 0-for-8.

Dover Downs
Timbogo recorded his third win in a row to win the $14,500 feature trot on Saturday, Dec. 11 at Dover Downs. Brad Hanners drove Mike Casalino and trainer Dylan Davis’ Timbogo from post 8 to notch a 1:58.4 victory. The win for the Yankee Great-Free Kitten 3-year-old gelding is his fourth win in five career starts. Jessee’s Career (Roger Plante) finished second with Mandabra (Vic Kiirby0 third in a field reduced to eight starters when program favorite Classic Puzzle was scratched.

Saratoga Gaming and Raceway
Driver Brad Kramer continued his recent dominance at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway on Saturday as the veteran reinsman piled up five wins on the card. Kramer started out the evening with a victory (Blue Strike) and never seemed to stop making trips to the winner’s circle. Moving east from Michigan a few months ago, Kramer has become a weekend regular at Saratoga and had a monster night on Saturday. He won the evening’s feature, the $16,500 Open Pace with Handsome Harry and followed it up with a win in open two piloting Roxies Big Guy to a wire-to-wire score. Both victories were for trainer Mark Ford. Kramer won five races in one night (three for Ford) for the second consecutive weekend and has driven at nearly a 30% win clip since coming to Saratoga two months ago. Sunday is closing day for the 2010 racing season at Saratoga.
