Southwestern Dream was a 1:50.3 winner on Monday.

In the $31,000 Preferred/Open Pace, Corey Callahan drove Southwestern Dream down the lane to catch front-pacing Vlos (Tony Morgan) in the final steps to score a 1:50.3 triumph. Vlos held on for second with fast-finishing Dancin Yankee (David Miller) third.

It was the Cambest-Lady Of Art gelding’s second straight win and eighth on the season for trainer Bruce Saunders and owner Frank Belino. The 7-year-old has now won $157,955 this year and $775,402 lifetime.

Matt Kakaley got Highbeam Rusty N away quickly and then cut every step of a 1:51.2 mile to win the $30,000 Delaware Special. Mike Hall trains the Artsplace-Nicky Michele gelding for Carter Racing Stable. The win was the seventh of the campaign for the $136,230 winner this year. Kiss My Art (Corey Callahan) flashed down the stretch to finish second with Eagle All (Ross Wolfenden) the show horse.

The Meadows
Away last in the field of six, Kandor Hanover erased a 2-1/2 length deficit in the stretch to notch her third straight victory in Monday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows. Although Kandor Hanover was wide in the lane for Dave Palone, the 1-2 favorite gobbled up the leader, Victory Is Coming, in deep stretch and defeated that rival by three-quarters of a length in 1:55. Hawaiianphotograph rallied for show. Bill Zendt trains Kandor Hanover, a 5-year-old daughter of Tagliabue-Katelyns Glory who extended her career bankroll to $425,130, for Online Stables, John Burns and J. Patrick Huber. Brett Miller drove five winners and Palone three on the 14-race card.
