Three Of Spades had the winning hand on Monday in the $35,000 Preferred Pace.

A two-month vacation was just what the doctor ordered for last season’s Dover Downs Horse of the Meet as Three Of Spades has come back and won his third race in a row on Monday. Jon Roberts moved the public choice out of third at the quarter to quickly take command and then cut all the fractions in a 1:50.3 triumph in the $35,000 Preferred Pace.

Trainer Bib Roberts and Bill DeLodovico own the 7-year-old altered son of Cam’s Card Shark-Triple Flip who posted his ninth win of the year, extending his seasonal earnings to $192,680. TG’s Valuable Art finished second for the second consecutive time with Ron Pierce. Harlingen Hanover closed from fifth at the top of the lane to roll along the passing lane for Roger Plante to finish third.

Solano made good use of an inside post as Corey Callahan scooted the 5-year-old son of No Pan Intended-Bloodstock Nihilator right to the front and he took no prisoners in chalking up a 1:51 conquest in the $32,500 Delaware Special Handicap. Trainer Johnny Waite owns the winner with Wade and Kathy Wyatt. It was Solano’s 12th win of the season and ups his seasonal bankroll to $199,685. Yogi Bare at 23-1 raced a tough last half-mile to hold on for second with Tim Curtin. Astounding Hanover led early with Tim Tetrick and finished third.

Sean Bier drove Andrea Ann Hill’s Jeremy’a Successor into the lead at the stat and gamely posted a 1:52.2 victory in the $27,000 Open Pace. Transcending closed for Matt Kakaley to finish second in front of It Was An Honor and Tim Tetrick.

The Meadows
Marty’s Charm made a triumphant return to The Meadows’ elite Monday when he rode a confident quarter-pole move to victory in the $22,500 Winners Over $10,000/Preferred Handicap Pace. A top performer at The Meadows in 2008 and part of 2009, Marty’s Charm last year injured his leg when he kicked a stall wall and was sidelined for a number of months. Midway through 2010, he began his comeback, working his way through conditioned ranks until his promotion to Monday’s feature. He won handily for Randy Tharps, scoring in 1:51.2. The first-over Object Of Art was second, 1-1/4 lengths back, with Handsome Prince third. Paul Corey trains Marty’s Charm, a 6-year-old Aces N’ Sevens-Bets Mae gelding who now boasts career earnings of $311,575 for Martha and Gerald Baluck. Dave Palone drove three winners on the 15-race card.
