Sunday’s (March 23) edition of Racing Roundup features results stories from Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, Saratoga Casino and Raceway and Dover Downs.

Weiss series highlights Sunday action at Pocono

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Sixteen Mikes, Ray Hall, and Time To Quit picked up wins in the first leg of the Bobby Weiss Series on Sunday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. Each of the three divisions of the series, which included 3 and 4-year-old trotting colts, stallions, and geldings, carried a purse of $15,000.

Sixteen Mikes, driven by Mike Simons and trained by Gail Wrubel, scored in the first division as the 2-1 second choice in 1:56:3. In the second split, Ray Hall, with Tim Tetrick in the bike for trainer Mark Harder, controlled matters as the 1-5 favorite in 1:55.3. 1-9 favorite Time To Quit, piloted by Matt Kakaley for trainer Ron Burke, rolled in the final division in 1:56:4.

Saratoga Casino and Raceway
The $17,000 Fillies and Mares Open concluded the Sunday afternoon Pick-5 at Saratoga Casino and Raceway and was won by Mc Taylor (Camluck). The mare was claimed two weeks ago by trainer Jason Robinson who won his first start with the mare before stepping her up into the Open on Sunday. Driver Billy Dobson situated Mc Taylor second-over and utilized the cover until the head of the stretch when they fanned three-wide. Mc Taylor stopped the timer in 1:57.1 to secure the score in the feature. Lexus Artist (Jim Devaux) was second while Stage It Right (Dan Cappello Jr) held on for third. The Pick-5, which had a carryover of more than $3,000, was hit and returned $2,901 for a $1 bet.

Dover Downs
Thetruthaboutdavid, the only sophomore in the field, recorded his third win of the year and reduced his lifetime record to 1:54.4 winning the $9,500 3,4&5-Year-Old pace on Sunday, to start the third from last week of the Dover Downs 2013-2014 meet began on March 23. A George Teague home-bred, Thetruthaboutdavid closed strongly for driver Montrell Teague in only his eighth career race. The Total Truth-Start The Game gelding has been either first or second in seven starts. Pantheon Seelster (Jonathan Roberts) too second money with White Sportscoat (Ross Wolfenden) the third-place finisher. Tony Morgan, the all-time fifth leading driver in the sport, chalked up a four-bagger, with two for trainer Tim Crissman. Jim Morand, Montrell Teague and trainer George Teague had doubles.
