Dan Deslandes steers Kimmie Cam to victory in Sunday’s $7,000 Fillies & Mares Free For All.

The 21-year-old Dan Deslandes scored five victories on the card, vaulting him into second place in the drivers’ standings, overtaking veteran teamster Gary Mosher in the process.

Deslandes now trails top pilot Drew Campbell on the leaderboard by 31 wins.

Not to be outdone, Steve Nason, the 23-year-old up-and-comer, engineered a grand slam performance on Sunday, steering four down victory lane.

Jelectric (Jason Will) pulled off the mild upset in the $29,200 Jim Derue Memorial Trotting Series final on Sunday at Saratoga. Stephane Bouchard moved Jelectric to the early lead and they would not be denied. The race’s 1-5 favorite, Jimmer, had to overcome some traffic trouble in the race and still came charging hard at Jelectric in the stretch. The Mary Gast trained 3-year-old proved too tough to reel in and he hit the wire first in 2:00.3 in what was his seventh win of the year. Jimmer, who dominated his two legs of the series heading into Sunday, had to settle for second while Goshen (Jim Devaux) closed to earn the show spot. Jelectric is owned by Michael Mancini, who bred the trotter and enjoyed a strong freshman season with him.
