Rain delay not soggy for Dresden Raceway

Dresden, ON — Storms rolled through Dresden Sunday morning (June 3) and delayed the start of the first race for about 20 minutes but it didn’t dampen the spirit of race fans as almost 700 people showed up to enjoy the party like atmosphere of the day.

“The track conditions were in question to start the day,” said Dresden Agricultural Society President Lucille Laprise. “But our crew got the track in shape for racing.”

The storms that blew through Dresden left water on the track and left the infield partially flooded but the rain stopped just before the 1:30 p.m. post time and the sun came out allowing the track to dry after a few small drainage ditches were dug.

All 10 races went to post with a handle of $23,503 for the second day of racing.

Tyler Borth scored four winners on the day while driving Omnipulse, Grand Bay, Lady With A Weapon and Dex The Land.

Grand Bay won her second in a row on Sunday. The 3-year-old Badlands Hanover filly has won two of three lifetime starts for owner Jim Napper of Bothwell and trainer Cathy Gaudreau.

Next week Dresden Raceway will hold another BIA day as well as racing featuring the Little Saratoga’s Dresden Cup.
