Randy Cassavaugh, 65, dies

Columbus, OH — Randy John Cassavaugh, 65, of Nova, Ohio, died Dec. 28, 2021, of complications from COVID-19 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.

He was born Feb. 28, 1956, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., to the late Ida (Reynolds) and Hubert Cassavaugh.

Mr. Cassavaugh was a Standardbred driver and trainer. He raced under the stable name “Footprints in the Sand” and was a member of the United States Trotting Association.

He was a man of faith known for his close relationship with the Lord.

He is survived by his companion, Raelee Beecher; children, Andrew, Stephanie, and Randy “Punky”; siblings, Scott (Kyle) and Roxanne (Tim) Kormos; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and close friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jacquie Townley.

Private family services will be observed at a future date. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.
