Rastetter gets second career pari-mutuel win in Meadows GLADA event

Washington, PA — “I Dream of Jeannie” Rastetter shot the Lightning Lane with Gee Whiz George to capture her second career pari-mutuel victory — and first since 1996 — in Friday’s (August 19) $10,000 Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association (GLADA) leg at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Jean Rastetter scored the second victory of her career on Friday (August 19). Chris Gooden Photo.

Scott “Scooter” Betts fronted the mile with Whiskey Lindy, with Rastetter firmly entrenched in the pocket. In the stretch, Rastetter knifed inside to defeat the rallying Tom “Mayhem” Svrcek (Berkery J) by a length in 1:59.4.  Robert Barnard (Wimborne Hanover) and Betts completed the ticket.

While Betts had to settle for fourth, it was the first time in his three-race pari-mutuel career that he hasn’t been disqualified for a pylon violation, a triumph that may get the paddock wags off his back.

Rastetter also trains Gee Whiz George, an 8-year-old Great George Two-Caviar Girl gelding who lifted his career bankroll to $150,801, for owner Maryann Rastetter.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Saturday (August 20) when the 11-race program features a $2,340.51 carryover in the Jackpot Pick 5 (Race 4). First post is 12:45 p.m.
