On Thursday (Sept. 13) at the Arqana Trot Mixed Sale in Deauville, a foal sired by Ready Cash sold for a record price of $260,000.

The foal, named In America, was born on Feb. 19 and is out of Nina Madrik, winner of the Group 1 RUS race the Prix du President de la Republique. Nina Madrik is also the dam of A Nous Doux, a winner of more than $400,000.

As is common in French sales, the breeder kept five shares in the colt, just in case In America ever should become a stallion.

The second highest price at the sale was Bea Darling, a 7-year-old mare sired by Love You and in foal to Ready Cash. She was purchased for $160,000.

Bea Darling has a mark of 1.58.3 and earnings of $125,000.

The cross of Ready Cash with a Love You mare is very popular in France – and why? That is the pedigree combination which produced Bold Eagle.

The average price of the sale was $15,105 which is up 26.4 percent from last year.
