Rebellious and Rich And Miserable win features at Tioga

Nichols, NY – Rebellious (Wally Hennessey) and Rich And Miserable (Jim Taggart Jr.) win the co-features at Tioga Downs on Sunday (July 10). Rebellious ($4.30) captures the $12,000 Open Pace.

Son Of A Tiger N (Mike Merton) went right to the front and led to the first quarter in :27.1. He used a :28.1 second quarter to get to the half first in :55.2. Scootnroll (Branden Parker) was first to make a move going down the backstretch but he just sputtered his wheels as Son O A Tiger N led to three-quarters in 1:22.4.

Rich And Miserable (Jim Taggart Jr.) win the co-features at Tioga Downs on Sunday (July 10).

As they made the turn for home Rebellious blows right on by to win easily in a seasonal best of 1:50.2. Son Of A Tiger N had to settle for second. Rockin Jukebox finished third.

Rebellious is an 8-year-old gelding by Mach Three. He is owned by Joel Warner and trainer Mike Deters. It was his sixth win this season. He now has 61 career victories. Rich And Miserable ($8.60) rallies late to grab the $13,000 Open Trot.

Nextroundsonme (Wally Hennessey) led to the first quarter in :26.1. He slowed things down using a :30.0 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.1. Believer (Tyler Jones) came first-over and challenged for the lead heading for the final turn. Nextroundsonme held a short lead to three-quarters in 1:24.2.

As they made the turn for home Believer took over the lead. Rich And Miserable popped the pocket and came flying down the stretch and went right on by to win in 1:53.2. Believer held on for second. Golden Kronos (Brandon Parker) finished third best.

Congratulations to Jim McDonald as he got his 1,500th training win. He did it with Agedchedar Hanover (Wally Hennessey) in race number five.

Rich And Miserable is a 7-year-old gelding by Explosive Matter. Todd Buter trains for Buter Farm Inc., Lynette Buter, William and Carol Fuhs. It was his fourth win of the season. He now owns 37 career victories.

Tioga Downs returns to Live racing on Friday (July 15) as they play host to the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) featuring 2-year-old pacing fillies with a post time of 6:15 p.m.
