Rembrandt Spur named MSOA Horse of the Year

Washington, PA — Rembrandt Spur, owned by Roy Davis and trained by Dick Stillings, has been named Meadows Horse of the Year for 2010 by the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association.

A son of Pegasus Spur, Rembrandt Spur now holds three track records at The Meadows, including the top honor — the fastest trotting mile in Meadows history. The gelding trotted in 1:52.2 this season, eclipsing the former track standard set by Michaelrowyourboat of 1:52.3.

Rembrandt Spur also put his name in the record books this year as part of the fastest trotting dead heat in track history, a 1:55.1 mile achieved with Diamond Hunter. In 2009, Rembrandt Spur set the track record for 3-year-old gelding trotters, 1:53.3, a mark that still stands

Dick Stillings has been in the bike for all three record performances.

Through November, Rembrandt Spur has raced 20 times in 2010, winning seven, and banking over $134,000 this season.

Rembrandt Spur was first voted Older Horse/Gelding Trotter of the Year by the members of the MSOA, and was then named Trotter of the Year before defeating Bob Key’s Valentowner, who was the MSOA Pacer of the Year, in the final vote.

3-year-old Colt/Gelding Pacer of the Year – Bombastic, owned by Howard Alexander & Troy McDougal
3-year-old Filly Pacer of the Year – The Assassinator, owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver Bruscemi LLC
3-year-old Colt/Gelding Trotter of the Year – Tough Call, owned by Rick Beinhauer
3-year-old Filly Trotter of the Year – Barham Hanover, owned by Dan Altmeyer, Heather Wilder, Richard Kelson, Jack Piatt II
Older Horse/Gelding Pacer of the Year – Valentowner, owned by Bob Key
